Tesla Ready to Open Easton-Area Dealership

COLUMBUS (Chris Vanocur) -- A new Tesla store is all set for its grand opening in Easton on Friday, but the electric car is already causing a bit of controversy in Ohio.

The Tesla Sedan is a 100 percent electric car that can get 300 miles on a single charge. Among many bells and whistles, it has a 17 inch touch screen and voice controlled music. Its speakers even go to 11, not 10.

And did we mention it's fast?

"The car is a rocket ship. It goes 0 to 60 in 4.2 seconds," Dustin Krause of Tesla Motors said.

But Tesla in Ohio is not without controversy. The Ohio Auto Dealers Association reportedly doesn't like car makers owning their own dealerships, and there's been talk of the state legislature blocking Tesla from doing so here.

"I think people are very excited about it. Dealerships may not be excited about it, but the people have spoken," Krause said. "They want Teslas here in Ohio."

The Model S Tesla starts at $70,000 dollars, according to Krause. There are approximately 250 tesla owners in Ohio.
