Columbus Couple gets Engaged over Loudspeaker at Whitehall Walmart
WHITEHALL (Adam Slinger) -- He wasn't planning to do it at that moment, but he was always planning on using the loudspeaker.
"I just did it today to surprise her," said Marvin Banks. "Try to get a little surprise."
His girlfriend, Ashley Whisonant, had no idea a proposal was coming.
On Thursday afternoon, while Banks was at the jewelry counter, Whisonant was standing in another section of the Whitehall Walmart on Main Street.
"Next thing I know, I hear over the intercom, Attention Walmart Customers," said Whisonant. "He said, You mean the world to me, I love you. I want to spend the rest if my life with you, and that's why I'm going to ask you this. And he got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. He did it all over the intercom."
Ashley said yes, while shoppers watched, some even in tears.
She started crying, everyone else started crying, said Banks. It was nice. I loved it.
Whisonant admits she never expected her engagement to take place at Walmart, but insists this proposal was perfect.
"I think this proposal tops all proposals," said Whisonant.
