One Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting

COLUMBUS (Joe Stoll/Chelsea Spears) -- New information on the suspect who was shot-and-killed by police after posing a threat to officers.

Police have identified the suspect as Patrick L. Jones, according to a press release.

The shooting occurred around 9 p.m. Friday when Columbus Police were called to a disturbance at 2272 Siskin Ave. in West Columbus. A woman had locked herself in a bathroom after a man threatened to kill her with a knife.

The man confronted officers when police arrived on scene. One officer fired at the man and hit him. Police officers attempted to give the man first aid but were unsuccessful.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police dispatchers say officers weren't hurt.

The shooting is still under investigation by the Critical Incident Response Team.
