Judge Sets Bail Amount for Suspected Serial Robber

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines/Kate Liebers) -- A judge has set a $1.5 million bail amount for a suspected serial criminal who was arrested after allegedly attempting to rob a fast food restaurant.

SWAT officers arrested 20-year-old Brandon Thomas on Monday night outside Subway at 1503 W. Broad St. after watching him enter the restaurant while wearing a ski mask and gloves, according to investigators.

Thomas allegedly ran out of the restaurant after employees refused to give him cash. SWAT officers arrested him at his car after the robbery attempt.

The attempted robbery came days after two Tim Horton's restaurants were robbed -- crimes Thomas allegedly boasted about committing, investigators said. Those who know Thomas called detectives when Thomas allegedly told them he was plotting to target another business.

Thomas is currently charged with aggravated robbery in connection only with the crime at Subway.

The suspect's mother said Thomas has been a drug user and needs help.
