Water Main Break Leads to Heavy Ice on E. Columbus Road
COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- Sub-zero temperatures may be to blame for a water main break that covered an East Side street with ice early Tuesday morning.
The line broke at approximately midnight at E. Mound Street and Fairwood Avenue, flooding the road in the area. That water quickly turned into a thick layer of ice, forcing water division workers to seek help from plow salt truck drivers.
The intersection was closed for several hours while workers cleared the ice from the road. Crews will be forced to dig into the road in order to repair the line.
