Timeline of Columbus City Schools Data Doctoring Probe

COLUMBUS (Lu Ann Stoia/Kate Liebers) -- Investigators have looking into whether Columbus City Schools administrators falsified attendance records and grades in order to be eligible for cash bonuses.

City, county or federal prosecutors have not confirmed if the probe will result in any charges.

On Tuesday, Superintendent Dan Good and the school board president are to hold a conference following the release of the state auditor's final report.

The following is a guide to the sequence of events revolving around the Columbus City Schools data-doctoring probe:

October 2004 -- An email is sent anonymously to the school board president that alleges staff members are "cooking the books" and requests an investigation.

June 2005 -- The Ohio Department of Education said it completed a review of attendance data practices and determines Columbus follows proper procedures.

August 2011 -- Columbus internal auditor tells Supt. Gene Harris (now retired) there are truancy cases against students that were thrown out of juvenile court and that attendance records had been changed.

June 28, 2012 -- State Auditor announces beginning of investigation into data manipulation at CCS.

July 2012 -- Data czar Steve Tankovich is reassigned by the superintendent to another job in the district. He retires in February 2013.

July 2012 -- The superintendent suspends administrator Michael Dodds who records show made thousands of student data changes. He retires in January 2013.

September 20, 2012 -- Dr. Gene Harris announces she will retire at the end of the school year.

October 2012 -- State Auditor announces he has found evidence of data scrubbing in records of schools he has examined so far.  The FBI begins a separate investigation into actions of CCS employees.

April 2013 -- Stanley Pyle, an assistant principal who records show changed hundreds of grades retires.

May 2013 -- State Auditor and police have warrants to seize records from 20 Columbus high schools.

June 28, 2013 -- Dr. Gene Harris retires.

January 14, 2014 -- School board President Carol Perkins announces she is retiring to spend more time with her family.

January 15, 2014 -- State Auditor presents his report to new Board of Education president, Superintendent Dan Good, and other district leaders. 

January 23, 2014 -- CCS provides a response to the Auditor's investigation.  Both are expected to be made public the week of January 27.

January 27, 2014 -- Public release (scheduled) of Auditor's investigation.
