Indiana Man Found Driving with Bombs, Guns on Ohio Highway

COLUMBUS (Lu Ann Stoia/Kate Liebers) -- The national guardsman accused of hauling nearly 50 bombs while speeding on a central Ohio highway faced additional charges Friday.

Investigators said Andrew Boguslawski was traveling 70 miles per hour on Interstate 70 when he was pulled over for speeding. He was allegedly traveling back to Indiana after visiting family for the New Year's holiday.

Officers said the driver had a gun between his legs as well as three others in the car. They also found 48 bombs and a bulletproof vest.

Boguslawski told officers he was carrying the weapons for training.

Troopers also found 5-Hour Energy bottles in the car, which the suspect said were smoke bombs used for suicide bomber training.

Boguslawski faces several charges of making and possessing weapons and bombs.

The suspect has served with the National Guard in three states, including Ohio, and is a trained intelligence analyst.

Boguslawski was held in jail on a $1 million bond.

His defense attorney said there is no evidence Boguslawski intended to harm anyone.
