Supporters of Carlton Manor Nursing Facility Hold Rally
WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE (Tara Morgan) -- Supporters held vigil outside a nursing facility on the verge of having its license revoked by the state.
Dozens of people huddled outside Carlton Manor in Washington Court House Friday night holding signs and candles.
Neighbors passing by showed their support by honking their horns.
Staff and neighbors are calling on the state health department to reconsider its proposal to revoke the manor's license.
"This is not a normal nursing home and they're trying to run the regulations as it is," said Carlton Manor Administrator April Patrick.
130 people live at Carlton Manor. Some have psychiatric and behavioral disorders and nearly three dozen are registered sex offenders.
The building owner just requested a formal administrative hearing.
A recommendation will be made to the health director who has the final say about the manor's future.
No date has been set for that hearing.
