Columbus Homeless Shelters At Capacity During Arctic Blast
COLUMBUS -- Columbus homeless shelters struggled to meet the increased demands during the Monday cold snap.
Many were reportedly packed to capacity, but were adding resources to make sure people were not left out in the cold.
Representatives Faith Mission in Grandview, for example, said they added 130 beds to make sure everyone had a place to stay.
The three Faith Mission locations in Columbus can typically house 266 people each night.
"We always beef it up in the winter--more so than ever this winter," Faith Mission's Sue Villilo said. "In addition we've even added chairs at night -- that's new. We've only done that this winter because it's been so cold."
Faith Mission also offers a day shelter for those who are trying to jumpstart their lives.
