Galena Mailboxes Plowed with the Snow

GALENA (Jen French) -- Neighbors in Galena said their mailboxes were plowed along with the snow.

"Well I heard it, and it sounded like a car wreck, resident Bob Rhodeback said.

He said his postage was suddenly air mail.

"I looked out the front window, and I saw my mail and everything blowing down the front road, Rhodeback said.

Across the street, William Walker said he saw two plows take off that day after they crushed Rhodebacks mailbox and another next door.

"I thought they had pulled over but they didn't. They kept on going, Walker said. If you go north of here, you'll see four or five knocked over in a ditch.

Walker said it has been a problem on State Route 605 in Galena.

An Ohio Department of Transportation spokesperson said the organization was not immediately aware of what happened, but plans to fix Rhodebacks mailbox. Others who have experienced similar problems were advised to contact ODOT.

The driver is not likely to be cited. The ODOT official said he may not have been aware of what happened.
