Teen Testifies in 'Hilltop Creeper' Case

COLUMBUS (Maria Durant/Kate Liebers) -- The actions of the man known as the "Hilltop Creeper" came to light Wednesday, as a teenage victim testified in court.

A 17-year-old girl told the judge that she was only 15 years old when she awoke to find a stranger standing above her bed.

"He told me to shut up and be quiet," the girl said. It is ABC 6/FOX 28 policy to not release the names of victims who are minors.

When the prosecutor asked if the man threatened her, she said he had.

"He told me if I move, he didn't want to do anything, but he would if he had to," she said.

"He reached down and touched my boob and I pushed his hand away," the teen said. "He standed there and stared for a minute and then walked away -- walked out of the room."

The suspect, whom police identified as Deneen Black, was accused of sneaking into several homes in west Columbus. The incident the teen described in court was one of 19 burglaries that police accused Black of committing. In some of these cases, police said Black entered bedrooms and either watched or touched women.
The girl said she had fallen asleep in her mother's room that night. Her mom was asleep on the couch when the suspect entered the bedroom, the girl said.

"I was scared and I couldn't move," she said when the prosecutor asked her how she felt after the threat.

Black was charged with kidnapping, gross sexual imposition and burglary. His trial is scheduled to continue Thursday.
