Hit-and-Run Crash Knocks Out Power in East Columbus

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- AEP employees are working to restore power to more than 200 customers who have been in the dark since a hit-and-run crash that took out three utility poles on Sunday night.

The crash at E. Livingston Avenue and Noe Bixby Road initially disrupted electric services for approximately 1400 people. Power was restored to most of the affected homes by 7 a.m. Monday.

Police are trying to identify the driver of a maroon car that sped away from the crash scene before officers arrived. Occupants of an SUV that was also involved in the crash suffered minor injuries, but were not hospitalized.

Police expect E. Livingston Avenue to remain closed between Lattimer and Woodcrest Roads through Monday evening as American Electric Power (AEP) workers continue restoration efforts.
