Columbus Police: Man Dies After Being Shot
NORTH COLUMBUS (James Jackson) -- New information on a man Columbus police say was shot to death. His body was found inside the front door of a home on 1622 East 25th Avenue, in North Columbus, around 5 Monday evening.
Police searched for clues Monday night and crime tape stretched across the front of the home. That's a sight Christiana Holloway says she sees far too often there. "My kids used to play. When I first moved out here, I let my kids play up and down. There's a park down there. I used to let my kids play at that park. I won't let my kids go outside now," Holloway said.
Sylvia Morales has lived down the street for a year and a half. She says it didn't take her long to find out about the area's reputation. There's drugs and I mean you see people walking down the street and you kind of wonder about their character," Morales said. Morales says it's because of that constant criminal activity that has people who live there on edge. Christiana Holloway says it's driving her out. "I am moving. My lease is up in April. I might even brake my lease as of right now," Holloway said.
The victim's name has not been released. Police say this marks the 7th homicide of the year in the city.
