Good Day Gardening: Week 18

The Good Day Garden is still chugging along and we pulled a potato plant this week to see how it was doing.

It is still early to harvest, but our plant already had a few large potatoes and other smaller ones that would have grown larger... but curiosity got the best of us and we wanted to check on the progress.

Due to all the recent rains, Jeff Turnbull, owner of Darby Creek Nursery, said to keep an eye on your vine plants and tomato plants.

They may start getting a fungus. Make sure the plants are getting ventilated well. Also the wet and now hard soil may blocking some air to getting to the roots so once the soil dries out a little try breaking up the top layer of soil to allow air to get to the roots.

Big harvest should be coming soon!
