Police surprise family of "missing boy" after finding him collecting cans for gifts
A moment of panic for a mother in Oklahoma City turned into unexpected gifts.
According to KFOR, Sophia Reed was worried about the location of her son, 13-year-old son Diauris Johnson, when she called the police.
Police came to her home and found that Johnson was out collecting cans, hoping to exchange them for money to get a gift for his mom. "I just wanted to do something for my mama," Johnson told KFOR.
Reed, a single parent, used the little Christmas money they had to pay for a security deposit on the family's new apartment. Once officers caught wind of the story, they raised $800 and brought Christmas and housewarming gifts for the family.
"They caught us at the right time, you guys, and we are so blessed and grateful," Reed told KFOR.
