Alec Fraser and his good friend, Jamie, are cycling from Connecticut to California to raise money to fight cancer.

While on the Cycle for Survival, the duo made a stop Wednesday in Columbus at the Park of Roses.

The ride honors Fraser's son, Julian, who died from osteosarcoma when he was 20.

The plan is to ride the entire 4,650 miles in 68 days. Wednesday was the 11th day of the trek.

"I wanted to do a marathon ride just to honor Julian. He went through a marathon battle with cancer so I thought to commemorate and do it justice, we would do something equally on a grand scale," Fraser said.

Fraser said he also wanted this ride to be something people could rally behind after a tough year of COVID.

Riders are joining them along the way and their next destination is Dayton.
