Sheriff: Body found in Crawford County landfill
CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) -- Mount Gilead Police are leading the investigation into a body discovered at a landfill in Crawford County.
Investigators from Mount Gilead Police, Galion Police, Crawford County Sheriff's Office and Ohio BCI helped in the search Tuesday.
Crawford County Sheriff Scott Kent would not confirm an identity, but said the body belongs to a "Jonathan Doe."
Robin Michael with Guardian Angels traveled from nearby Bucyrus to offer help in the search.
"No matter who the body is, it has family and that family needs closure," said Michael.
Sheriff Kent explained conditions were tough for authorities.
"It's kind of rough terrain up there walking around in the pit. I would guess we moved several hundred tons of garbage today," said Sheriff Kent.
Tuesday's discovery comes after 14-year-old Skylar Bentley was reported missing from Mount Gilead Sunday April 22nd.
Skylar's dad told ABC 6/FOX 28 the teen was seen on security footage climbing into a dumpster at the school early Tuesday morning, but not seen climbing out.
Crawford County commissioner Jenny Vermillion sent a press release requesting prayers for Skylar's family.
