Early morning icy roads Wednesday led to dozens of schools canceling classes.

"We got the day off school for a snow day,” says elementary school student Malia.

That gave some kids in Delaware County a chance to hit the sledding hill and throw some snow balls at Gallant Woods Park to celebrate the first snow day of 2019. "Sometimes we watch movies. Lots of times we go sledding. Arts and crafts. Just hang out,” Sherry Haught.

Over at ACE Hardware the salt is flying off the shelves. "The freezing rain this morning had people worried. We sold salt all morning,” says manager Jim Morris.

The store says they’ve been busy for the last week, now that we’ve finally got snow.

"I mean we sold out of all of our sleds and a lot of our shovels over the weekend,” adds Morris.

The store and the shoppers are aware that even more winter weather is on the horizon, and they’re getting ready for whatever comes our way.

"I heard it's going to be bad again so I've got the snow blower ready and that's what this is all about,” said shopper Johannes Lorenz.
