Co-workers remember father found murdered in Italian Village
A man found murdered in Italian Village Sunday morning is being remembered as a good father of three kids.
For the team at Miracle Motor Mart in the Whitehall area, it's hard to accept that their co-worker, Daniel Connell, is gone.
"We were all shocked when we heard the news," said sales manager Vince D'Andrea, "just can't really believe it, you know, it is just one of those things that you don't expect to ever experience to someone you know."
Around 6:30 Sunday morning, a woman going to work found the 35-year-old on the sidewalk near North Fourth Street, not far from 670 in the Italian Village area.
Minutes later, first responders got there and said Connell was dead.
Police said he had multiple gunshot wounds.
"Just shocking and devastating at the same time," said D'Andrea.
His boss remembers Connell as a top salesman, who always talked about this family.
"He would come in here," he said, "he was always high-spirited and just energetic and just wanted to sell cars, all he wanted to do, but no he was just a really good guy, loved his family a lot."
His work family hopes to send a message.
"I'd like for Dan's family to know how much that he cared about, he cared about them and he talked about them constantly," said D'Andrea.
Police said this was the 69th homicide of the year, and said at last check, there were no suspects or motives in the case.
"It is heartbreaking, you know?" said D'Andrea, "and to know that whoever is out there that did that to him, they should be behind bars, definitely."
