Columbus Police investigating attempted abduction of three girls

Three girls reported a man tried to abduct them in southwest Columbus Tuesday morning.

Police say the incident happened around 8:30 a.m. near the 5400 block of Westgrove Drive, off of Norton Road. Police say the suspect, who was leaning next to a blue SUV, approached a girl from Holt Crossing Intermediate School. He reportedly tried to grab the student, but she bit him and ran away. The suspect then approached two other girls nearby and tried to get them in his SUV.

The girls ran to a neighbor’s house for safety, according to police.

He is described as a black man, about 30-years-old, between five-foot-eight and six feet, 150 pounds, full facial hair, close cut. The suspect was wearing blue jeans, black jacket, sneakers and a black knit cap.

The vehicle is described as a blue SUV with a spare tire mounted on the back.
