CPD holds well-attended job seminar
Over 400 people gathered at the Columbus Police Academy to get a preview of police training.
It was part of the department’s job seminar. Columbus Police said they need to hire 70 new officers for next year to keep up with the number of employees retiring.
Potential recruits got a sneak peek at physical tests, talked with K-9 officers and more.
“You have to have a passion to do this job,” said Sgt. Duane Nicholson with the Columbus Division of Police. “It is not just a regular nine to five, we work numerous hours, different shifts.
The deadline to apply for the police academy is at the end of July. You did not need to attend the session to apply for the academy.
