COLUMBUS -- More than 300 workers will be laid off when the Eddie Bauer, LLC Express Call Center in March shuts down in March. Eddie Bauer filed official notice with the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services on Monday.
The company says they will "completely and permanently" close the center on Alum Creek Drive and will be permanently laying off the employees working in the distribution center and support departments. They say the call center's last day is expected to be March 7, 2016. Layoffs at the distribution center and support services will start on April 18th.
There are 116 employees at the Express Call Center Unit who will be laid off, and 195 employees who work in the Distribution Center and support functions.
Eddie Bauer released a statement to ABC 6/FOX 28 saying "Eddie Bauer LLC is exiting a third-party distribution and call service business which is unrelated to the distribution and service business of the Eddie Bauer brand. The core Eddie Bauer business remains active in our facility located in Groveport, Ohio."
