Cleanup was underway in Delaware County Wednesday after flooding has closed down some roads for days.

State Route 229 nearWaldo, which might be your favorite shortcut from Delaware to Ashley, was closed for at least ten days.

ODOT officials announced on their Twitter that the road was re-open as of 2:00 pm on Wednesday.

Crews worked long hours to get debris off the road where Delaware Lake swamped the roadway last month, workers had to dodge a few snowflakes to get their work done.

When the flooding first happened over a week ago, in one two-day span crews had four water rescues.

A car was revealed Wednesday as the water receded. It will need a new engine if it wants to run again.

Officials said the flooding is partly by design. The area is the north end of Delaware Lake, well upstream of the Delaware Dam.

It's a wildlife area, so it was intended to take some of the overflow when the water gets high.
