Mayor Andrew Ginther will head to New York to meet Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garner and Columbus Crew owner Anthony Precourt on Wednesday.
Ginther said he wants to make sure they understand the Crew has a proud history, present and future in Columbus. "We are one of the founding members of the MLS, the first soccer designed stadium in all of America , we have a great fan base here in and the Columbus Crew is part of who we are," said Ginther.

Negotiations are taking places as the Crew gets ready for the MLS playoffs. The Crew plays Toronto FC in the first leg of the finals November 21.
