Business boom! Stores and shopping centers across the Columbus area are cashing in this holiday season. In turn, it's putting plenty of people to work, thanks to those seasonal jobs.

Polaris Fashion Place is one of the local malls seeing a major increase in traffic and with it, more people being put to work.

The holiday shopping season in full swing. Shoppers across central Ohio are keeping area malls and shopping centers pretty busy. Those big holiday sales are pulling plenty of folks in.

The National Retail Federation estimates a nearly 5-percent bump in shopping numbers this year. With it, nearly half a million people have been hired as seasonal workers.

Mary Dimitrijeska, spokesperson for Polaris Fashion Place told ABC6 that the mall is in the midst of not only a holiday shopping boom, but a hiring one as well.

"I think with the shoppers confidence and the amount of people that have come in, I'm not surprised because we've had so many people this year. I think they're looking to beef up their staff and make sure they keep up with demand," said Dimitrijeska.

ABC6 found a number of open positions on the hiring site for Polaris. With weeks to go until Christmas Day, there are still plenty of jobs available. Thanks in large part to shoppers looking for those holiday deals.
