Man killed in east Columbus hit and run, driver charged with OVI
A man is dead after a drug-involved hit and run in east Columbus Wednesday night.
Police said officers responded to a reported accident where a man was hit in the westbound lanes of East Main Street near McNaughten Road around 9:22 p.m. Daniel Haley, 62, was pronounced dead 15 minutes later.
Witnesses told officers that Daley was attempting to chase geese off of the road.
Police then located the suspect two miles from the scene.
Police have charged 21-year-old Robert Cook of Reynoldsburg for a hit and run and OVI. He was slated at the Franklin County Jail.
This was the 31st traffic death in Columbus this year.
