Newark police arrest and charge 8th grade student for making threats at school
An 8th grade student at Liberty Middle School was arrest on Tuesday after school officials say they were overheard making threats at school.
According to a press release from the Newark Division of Police, staff from the school informed the police department about a student who made several comments to multiple classmates about shooting other students at the school.
School officials interviewed these classmates who had heard the comments and they confirmed that the 8th grader made detailed comments about shooting other members of the school.
The 8th grade student admitted to making these comments to other classmates.
The parents of the student were made aware of these comments and brought the student to the Newark Police Department.
The student has been charged with making terroristic threats.
