Ohio University has issued a crime alert after a female student reported being grabbed and groped on campus Tuesday night.

The woman told Ohio University Police that as she was walking east on the pedestrian path in Emerti Park towards Clippinger Hall, she passed a man who was sitting off to the side of the path between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

She said the suspect grabbed her backpack from behind, she elbowed him off her bag, and then he grabbed her hand and butt.

The victim reportedly struck the suspect in the head, used pepper spray, and was able to leave the area.

The suspect is described as a skinny college-aged white male, around five-foot-eight to five-foot-nine, with lighter colored short facial hair. He was last seen wearing a plain hooded sweatshirt with his hood up and white basketball shorts, according to the report.
