Security guard shot and killed at northeast side bar and grill

A man was shot and killed at a Northeast Columbus restaurant late Sunday night.

Columbus Police said 49-year-old Shawn Lee Patilla was found with an apparent gunshot wound at the Oakland Park Bar & Grill around 11:30 p.m.

Police said Patilla was rushed to Grant Medical Center where he was pronounced dead minutes later at 12:06 a.m.

Patilla was a security guard at the restaurant. CPD said there was a disturbance at the restaurant earlier in the evening, but it was unclear if the events were related.

The assailant fled the scene after firing the shots according to witnesses. The shooter's identity was unknown.

This was the 14th Homicide in Columbus this year.
