The Franklin County Veterans Service Commission (VSC) has reached out to veterans in Franklin County who may have been impacted by the current government shutdown.

"We want all of our veterans to know that we are here to serve them, and at this time, especially those affected by the shutdown," said VSC Executive Director Robert "Buck" Bramlish.

The VSC said the organization has an established financial aid program which may be able to assist veterans in meeting monthly bills such as rent, mortgage, utilities and food.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Be a veteran with some active duty time other than basic training nad have an honorable or general under honorable conditions discharge.
    • Be a Franklin County resident for at least 90 consecutive days.
    • Be in an immediate or emergency financial situation.
