Woman killed after head-on crash in Fairfield County

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) -- The State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash Fairfield County on Thursday.

According to troopers, they responded to the accident on State Route 158 in Liberty Township around 11:20 a.m. They said 64-year-old Evelyn K. Held was driving southbound on SR 158 when she went left of center in her 2008 Chrysler Town & Country, colliding with a 2016 Toyota Tundra headed northbound, driven by 74-year-old Michael England, and forcing his vehicle off the road.

Held was transported to Mount Carmel East Hospital where she later died from her injuries. England suffered minor injuries and was transported to Grant Medical Center in stable condition, troopers said.

Troopers from the Lancaster Post of the Highway Patrol along with Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department, Basil Fire and Rescue, responded to the scene. The State Highway Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit also responded to assist with the investigation. The crash remains under investigation.
