Crack cocaine found in teen's dress after traffic stop
A traffic stop for a seatbelt violation led to the arrest of a 17-year-old girl on drug charges.
The Indian River County Sheriff's Office said deputies made the stop and noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.
The people in the car were also seen smoking marijuana, according to the arrest report. Deputies searched the car and retrieved 100 Xanax pills in the girl's purse. The teen also told investigators she found the pills in Sebastian and planned to give them to her grandmother.
Deputies arrested the girl and as they took her to the Indian River County Jail to be processed she said she had more "stuff" on her. Deputies found a large beige rock-like substance under her dress, which later tested positive to be crack cocaine. The girl is now facing charges of delivery of a controlled substance for being in possession of Xanax, and trafficking cocaine.
The teen is being held at the St. Lucie Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
