Police: Woman arrested after leaving 3 young children alone in apartment to go to party
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) - A woman is in custody after police say she left her three young children alone in an apartment.
Around 5:15 a.m., officers went to check on three children at the Brightwater Apartments near West 23rd Street and Southwest Boulevard. A neighbor told police she had let 25-year-old Neah Grayson borrow her car to go to a party with a friend around midnight, but the neighbor later learned that Grayson's three children were possibly alone in their apartment.
Police say Grayson returned home after an officer spoke with her on the phone. She told officers her 15-year-old niece was inside babysitting her three children, but police say Grayson's 4-year-old daughter, 3-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter were all alone inside the apartment.
Grayson later admitted that she had left the children alone while she went to a friend's house, according to police. She told officers that she had smoked some marijuana and fallen asleep.
Police say Grayson was arrested on a child neglect complaint. Her three children were taken into DHS custody.
