COLUMBUS, Ohio — There are several events honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Central Ohio and Northeast Ohio.
Below is a list of current offers and events:
The City of Columbus Department of Neighborhoods will hold their annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration on Monday, January 21, 2019.
Due to cold temperatures, the march portion has been canceled. The rest of the program will continue as scheduled, at 4:00 pm at East High School.
The Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) will celebrate the Harlem Renaissance and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday with programs at their Martin Luther King Branch next week.
In February, all 23 CML locations will celebrate Black History Month. For more information, visit www.columbuslibrary.org/events.
All CML locations will be closed on Monday, January 21 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
On January 21, 2019, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium will continue its tradition of offering free admission to everyone on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The offer will be valid during the Zoo's operating hours, 10 am to 4 pm.
Standard parking fees still apply: $10 per vehicle, free for Zoo members.
The 34th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Breakfast will take begin at 7:30 am on Monday, January 21, 2019, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
The keynote speaker will be John B. King, Jr, the former Secretary of Education under President Barack Obama.
The breakfast will be held in Exhibit Hall C. Doors open at 7:00 am, adjournment at 10:00 am.
Join over 1,000 Buckeyes in honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a day of service on Monday, January 21, 2019.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all volunteers. Doors open at 7:45 am at the Ohio Union, and the end time is approximately 1:00 pm at the Hale Black Cultural Center.

For Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend the Ohio History Center is offering themed programming inspired by their art exhibit Black Heritage Through Visual Rhythms.
The exhibit is set to close on Monday, January 21, 2019.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland is offering free admission on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
The Rock Hall will have a special schedule for the day. They describe it as:
Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy live performances, an art demonstration, education programs, and family activities that highlight how people have used music to find their voice and create a sense of community. The event will be emceed and DJ’d by Jason Walker. The Rock Hall’s many exhibits, including its featured Stay Tuned: Rock on TV, showcase how artists have used popular music to communicate ideas and incite social change.
The doors open at 10:00 am and close at 5:30 pm. Additionally, the Rock Hall is collecting donations of hats, scarves, gloves, and other cold weather clothes to benefit Clevelanders in need.

Leadership Westerville and the MLK Jr. Legacy Project are holding their 14tgh annual Westerville Luther King Jr. Breakfast Celebration, "Remaining Awake."
Reverend Dr. Gayle Fisher-Stewart serves as the keynote speaker. Fisher-Stewart is a former police officer of 20 years, and currently serves as associated rector of Calvary Episcopal Church.
The Worthington community celebration to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will take place at 11:00 am on January 21, 2019.
"Performances will include the Capriccio Jubilee Choir, Capriccio Youth Choir and Joyful Inspiration Dance. Dr. Ted McDaniel will be the featured speaker. Emeritus professor of African American Music at The Ohio State University, Dr. McDaniel is a specialist in jazz history, jazz performance, and African American music," according to the event details on the City of Worthington's website.
