COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) -- Ohio has been ranked as the third best state for drivers. Bankrate.com says the Buckeye State earned its high ranking due to a combination of low driving costs, No. 1, fair driving quality, No. 19, and safe driving conditions, No. 12.
California was ranked as the worst and North Dakota was ranked the best in the country for drivers.
Bankrate.com says the rankings factor in ownership costs, driver safety and quality of commute.
“Most of us are still getting behind the wheel every day, but what driving costs in both time and money varies widely depending on where we live,” says Adrian Garcia, data analyst for Bankrate.com. “In areas where commute times are long and car ownership costs are high, it may make more sense to skip the luxury of your own vehicle and opt for public transportation, a carpool or a bike ride to work."
