Buckeye Basketball: Chris Holtmann voted Big Ten Coach of the Year

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) -- Ohio State's projected rebuild as a diminishing league and national contender went a lot faster and a result, first-year head coach Chris Holtmann was named Big Ten Coach of the Year.

The former Butler coach led the Buckeyes to a 24-7 regular season (15-3 in the Big Ten) and second seed in the Big Ten Tournament after OSU predicted to finish 11th out of 14 teams in the league.

Ohio State has a bye into the quarterfinal round of the Big Ten Tournament where they'll await the winner of Penn State and Northwestern at Madison Square Garden on Friday.
