LYON, FRANCE -- (AP) Zach Steffen replaced Bill Hamid in goal behind a five-man defensive line as U.S. interim coach Dave Sarachan made five changes for Saturday’s exhibition against World Cup-bound France in Lyon.

Defenders Shaq Moore, Tim Parker and Antonee Robinson also were newcomers to the starting lineup along with Julian Green at forward.

Moore was at right back, with Parker joining Cameron Carters-Vickers and Matt Miazga in the middle. Robinson at left back.

Will Trapp was in defensive midfield, with Tyler Adams on the right and Weston McKennie on the left. Bobby Wood joined Green up front.

All starters are 25 and younger. At 22 years, 183 days, the lineup’s average age was the second-youngest since records began in 1990, trailing only the 22-160 for a 3-0 win over Bolivia on May 28.

Goalkeeper William Yarbrough did not dress along with midfielders Luca de la Torre and Keaton Parks, and forward Andrija Novakovich

The U.S. is coming off a 2-1 loss at Ireland last weekend, when Moore and Parker got their debuts as second-half substitutes. Green is starting for the first time since Oct. 11, 2016, against New Zealand.

Absent from the World Cup for the first time since 1986, the Americans likely will play next against Brazil on Sept. 7 at East Rutherford, New Jersey.

It remains unclear whether a new coach will be in place by then. Bruce Arena quit after the Americans were eliminated with the October loss at Trinidad and Tobago, and Sarachan was given the job on an interim basis. Earnie Stewart, the former American midfielder appointed as general manager this week, does not start his new job until Aug. 1.

France started Hugo Lloris in goal, with Djibril Sidibe at right back, Raphael Varane and Samuel Umtiti in central defense and Benjamin Mendy at left back. N’Golo Kante was in defensive midfield, with Paul Pogba on the right and Blaise Matuidi on the left. Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud headed the attack.
